The Performer
The small role of Jimmy Price is performed by the popular character actor Dan E. Butler. The part was his first significant on-screen role and also, as far as I can establish, the only time he has worked with Michael Mann.
Perhaps best known for his regular role in the successful comedy series "Frasier" (as Bulldog Briscoe), Butler has also appeared in the likes of "Quantum Leap", "Columbo", "The X Files" and many other TV shows and movies.
The Character
In Manhunter, Price is a member of the FBI forensics team, working under the guidance of Jack Crawford in the race against time to track down the serial killer known as "The Tooth Fairy".
