Ex-real
life Chicago Cop DENNIS FARINA stars as FBI man Jack Crawford - and he contributes an intense and convincing performance as Graham's superior.
As with many members of the impressive Manhunter
cast, Farina has had a somewhat low-key movie career which has
mainly consisted of minor roles. Farina also starred alongside John
Travolta in 'Get Shorty' (1995), Bette Midler in 'That Old
Feeling' (1997) and Brad Pitt in Guy Ritchie's crime-caper 'Snatch' (2000).
Coincidentally, in 'The Silence of the Lambs', the role of Crawford
went to Scott Glenn (who had worked with Michael Mann on the disasterous "The KEEP" in 1983). By the time 'Red Dragon' was released in 2002, it was Scorcese Veteran Harvey Keitel's turn to be Crawford.
Despite being a fan of Keitel's work on the likes of 'Mean Streets' (1973) and the underrated, little-known UK thriller - 'The Young Americans' (1993), I was personally disappointed by the way in which Crawford is portrayed in Brett Ratner's 'Red Dragon'..
