Ex-real life Chicago Cop Dennis Farina plays FBI man Jack Crawford with great intensity and is wholly convincing. The role of Crawford went to Scott Glenn in 'The Silence of the Lambs', who also did a good job, but in my opinion Farina provides a Crawford that is closer to the character described in the books.

As with many members of the impressive Manhunter cast, Farina has had a somewhat low-key movie career which has mainly consisted of minor roles. Recently he appeared with John Travolta in 'Get Shorty' and alongside Bette Midler in 'That Old Feeling'
