It is my belief that Director, Screenwriter & Producer Michael Mann is without doubt the genius behind Manhunter. From his slick 1981 crime drama "Thief" (aka 'Violent Streets' and 'Le Solitaire') starring James Caan through "The Insider"' with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe, Mann continues to write, produce and direct motion pictures which captivate & entertain their viewers in equal measures.

Mann's recent movie projects include the Muhammed Ali epic - "ALI" starring Will Smith, the impressive Tom Cruise vehicle "Collateral" (2004) - and now a big budget interpretation of the classic TV series "Miami Vice" (2006), starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx (working with Mann for the third time - after ALI and Collateral)

Following on from the critically acclaimed "The Insider", "ALI" bagged a Best Actor Oscar® nomination for Smith, and "Collateral" earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Foxx.
