"Genuine" Decca CD artwork

After what would best be described as a "heated, but healthy" debate on the Danny Elfman film music site forum, regarding the validity of the first CD artwork images I posted on this site (see here), I can now reveal what surely is the official CD artwork for the soundtrack!

This image has yet to be posted on the Amazon product page, but according to Soundtrack Collector.com, this image was sourced from the Decca Classics site, so it is certain to be genuine.

USA Red Dragon film tie-in novel edition cover

It's interesting to note that this apparently genuine cover artwork is clearly based on the USA novel re-issue imagery. For official confirmation of this, click here

So, are both covers "real" or was the original one merely a clever hoax? The undeniable connections with the book covers make it difficult to confirm, but all will be revealed soon, I am sure ...

** 8th September 2002 update **
According the the Decca and Amazon web sites, the Red Dragon soundtrack will be an "Enhanced CD". This probably means that an extra feature such as an original trailer for the movie will be included on the CD in QuickTime format. However, at present the nature of the "Enhanced" content has not been officially revealed. Watch this space for more details as I get them ...

The official track listing for the CD album has now been released by Decca. Read through the interesting track names on this new page !

** 28th September 2002 update **
The soundtrack is now available to buy on-line in the USA! Early reviews have been mixed, but one thing is clear - this is another fascinating score from Elfman! Listen to tracks on-line and decide for yourself.
