About The Band
"The Reds began as one of the most powerful guitar and keyboard-based bands of the late New Wave, starting in Philadelphia in the late seventies. Several albums later, they became the duo of Rick Shaffer on electric guitar and vocals, and Bruce Cohen on keyboards, backed by producer Mike Thorne's rhythm and synthesizers on "Cry Tomorrow". They made further recordings for Sire. Their music was featured in early episodes of Miami Vice, and they continued scoring for movies such as Michael Mann's Manhunter."

Exclusive! Excellent news for fans of "The Reds" and "Manhunter" - The boys are recording new material for release in late 2007. The new album will contain three songs from "Manhunter" that never made it into the film, including a new version of "The Jogger."
- This scoop was kindly supplied direct from the band and posted here in late January, 2007.
Contribution to Manhunter
The Reds are credited with providing the background score music for "Manhunter" (Michel Rubini also contributed some extra cues) - but sadly only two (strong) pieces of their work made it through to the Manhunter Soundtrack album. These were "Leeds' House" (the haunting, sinister instrumental that plays during the opening of the film) and also "Lecktor's Cell" (this is the music we hear during some of the scenes inside the asylum).
The outright most "missed" section of music from The Reds that was used in the movie is a piece commonly referred to as "The Jogger" - a tremendous, suspenseful cue that plays as Will attempts to snare the Tooth Fairy..
